Tonight (2 May 2012) was the last day of LOGIC LG.
LOGIC stands for Loving Others and God In Christ!
Honestly tonight i felt so tired due to the upcoming exams and assignments.

It’s been a while since my last tumblr post.
Busyness, procrastinates and lack of topics seemed to drive me away from tumblr. LOL
But yeah, this time will be different as i have a topic that i am so excited to discuss.
As the background, me and my friend are studying the book of Genesis for a while as he requested to study deeper on that book. We had studying a few chapters of Genesis until now and it has been so different from what we had learned in the past. One of the different has to do with the characters. In the past, i am pretty sure that all of us studied genesis back in the kindergarden. Back then what i get was the characters in the Genesis are all good guys who were different with other guys in their community. Kindergarden presented the characters in bible with cencors. No elaboration such as Noah getting naked, the condition in Sodom and Gomorrah. So i always had that idea that they all are good and i tried to justify all their acts as good. But when i tried to study it again now, it’s the whole different idea. You will get what i mean when you read my explanation later.
So tonight actually i gonna study part of Genesis 12 and complete chapter of Genesis 13 with my friend. And it is about the life of Abraham. But before we get there, i will explain the background of Abram since we kinda jump into the middle of the story. LOL
Abram is from Ur of the Chaldeans which means he is a Babylonian and he became the follower of God when God appeared to him (Genesis 12:1). God instructed him to go to the land that He will show to him. And God promised to make his name great (Genesis 12:2) . He made it to the land of Canaan which God showed to him. So here we will begin.
Abram and Sarai in Egypt (Genesis 12:10-20)
There is a famine in the land of Canaan that God brought him to. And Abram think that he needed to make a move here as he thought that God is not gonna protect him and perhaps he blamed God too as it is not blessing that he get but a famine. I think what all of us gonna say here is “he should just stay and wait patiently for God to help” but aren’t we the same if not even worse? Sometimes, we walk away from God just because God did not help us for a while, hours or even minutes while God wants us to learn to trust Him. And what we usually want is the blessing more than the wisdom while God wants us to learn wisdom first and then blessing. We are just impatient for blessing.
The moment when Abram talked with Sarai is another story. Abram is using his wife to safe himself. He was “selling” his wife to the Pharaoh and to make sure he is safe, he told her to say that Abram is her brother. Anyway, I had no idea how come a 75 years old women is still consider very beautiful. When Sarai about to be taken into Pharoah place, Abram said nothing which is very bad respond as a husband where he should died to protect her honor. And in returned, Abram get his “blessing” (gifts). This sounds like a really bad ending as Abram already seemed to settled in Egypt because it means Abram is about to lose his wife and land of Canaan. But thank God that God entered in the middle of the story to save the situation or otherwise it will be really bad. What is interesting here is God used Pharaoh who is an ungodly man to speak to the godly man like Abram. And the facts that Pharaoh did not kill Abram for lying to him who is consider as a king in Egypt was simply a grace for Abram. Pharaoh did not even took his belongings and just escort him away.
Abram and Lot Separate (Genesis 13)
Abram went back to the place where he built the altar and starts over again. He repented. He knew that he sinned and he asked for forgiveness from God. He went back to the last place where he did the right thing. And i learn that this is what we needed to learn when we sinned. Not trying to make any excuse but just repent and ask for forgiveness. Abram learnt his lesson here.
Abram story with his nephew Lot is another story. To begin with, Lot shall not be with Abram as God had instructed Abram to leave his relatives (Genesis 12:1). Lot is kind of freeloading here. Lot is taking Abram blessing from God and he did not even at least try to give way to Abram. Abram is older and Lot should respect his uncle by letting Abram take more part of the land. Lot is selfish here. Abram is the one who give way to Lot which sounds really wrong. Abram loved Lot and do not want to argue. When Abram give way to Lot, what Lot thinking is just more prosperity (as he seek business more than God). He choose the Jordan Valley which is near Sodom. Lot did not see that, he did not put the fact that those people in that region are wicked as a problem. He has his family and he did not think for his family to be close with God. He did not make sure that his family gets into a community that know God. What he seek is prosperity. He choose money over God which in Matthew said that you cannot serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24).
Abram made a decision that make no sense. He chose bad land that God chose for him. This is the man that has faith in God. The fact that both Abram and Lot went to Egypt and saw everything but only Abram learnt his lesson is another irony.
A lot of people think, “Well, I’ve been through a lot of hard times. I’ve learned a lot.” You may have been through a lot of hard times, but it remains to be seen whether you’ve learned anything. Just because we go through hardship doesn’t mean we’ve learned anything. Abraham learns. Lot doesn’t. Abraham learns to confess his sin, worship God, and trust him. And when he has decisions, to pray and to ask God, and Lot has learned to go what sight makes sense of in negligence of God through faith. Lot doesn’t learn his lesson, and it costs his family everything. (Pastor Mark Driscoll)
Conclusion
This is a great passage. For me personally I need to have more faith to God even when the situation is bad. Not seeing the situation but trust to God.As a men, protecting family is a must and this passage is a good lesson for every men. And when we sinned, we asked for forgiveness and go back to the right place to start over again.God is a God who forgives and give hope. It remind me that faith grows through failures.
Thank God for the grace.

Lots of things. A girl playing with her hair, the look on her face when she’s aiming a shot playing pool or snooker, a girl wearing a feminine apron… and a girl wearing an oversized male jumper or shirt and short shorts.
Guys are pretty simple creatures.
